How to protect yourself from HIV infection after exposure

Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is an HIV prevention strategy in which HIV-negative individuals take HIV drugs after they have come into contact with HIV. This reduces their risk of becoming infected.

After exposure, TENOF-EM Emtricitabine (200mg) and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (300mg) PDT should be started within 72 hours ⏱ after possible contact and then for 1 month until the full box of 30 Tenof-EM tablets has been completed. Then you can stop PEP as there is no counter indication for immediate discontinuation of the medicine.

Therefore, if you have the slightest suspicion that infection may have occurred, promptly acquire Tenof-EM and start your PEP treatment.

PEP does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or prevent pregnancy. It is not a cure or a vaccine for HIV.
