The ingredients of Tenvir-EM (Truvada) are emtricitabine (200mg) and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (300mg) PDT. These are the active ingredients used in HIV-negative people. This type of Tenvir EM regimen is known as PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) and is almost entirely successful in preventing HIV infection.
As far as adverse effects of Tenvir EM are concerned, only a very small number of people have reported symptoms such as nausea, malaise, fever or skin rashes, which disappear immediately after stopping the PREP treatment. Pre-exposure prophylaxis treatment can be started and stopped in any situation and without the need for a pattern. For HIV-positive people, more specific medication is available and should be used instead of Tenvir or any other PrEP.
